'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': Oscar Isaac's uncle is an extra, plus see photos of Captain Phasma's costume
Pictures giving an up-close look at the Captain Phasma costume of Gwendoline Christie in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have surfaced online. Cast members Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega also shared their favourite parts while filming the movie, in a recent interview.
Speaking to Collider, Isaac (Poe Dameron) revealed that his uncle Guillermo is a huge fan of the franchise and he accompanied the actor on the set of the movie. Isaac told director J.J. Abrams about how his uncle is a big fan and the director offered him a chance to be a part of the movie.
Isaac’s uncle accepted Abrams’ offer to be one of the extras in the movie and was given a “crazy get up.” Guillermo is said to appear behind the actor in one of the scenes of the movie that involves Stormtroopers. This, the actor revealed, was a “strange moment” that stands out for him while filming the movie.
Boyega (Finn) on the other hand, remembers being given a lightsaber for the first time. The actor described the moment as “surreal,” when a black box containing a lightsaber was opened in front of him. The posters of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” show that Finn will be wielding a lightsaber in the movie.
Ridley (Rey) talked about what it was like for her to film scenes at the Abu Dhabi set. The actress felt excited after seeing that Abrams was using a real set to film the scenes, instead of mostly using a green screen, and creatures were built for the movie. “It’s tangible and it’s real, and the reactions are real,” Ridley said.
The movie will mark the return of Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Leia). Ridley pointed out that apart from the veteran actors, the forthcoming movie will be introducing “another generation of characters.”
One new character working for the villainous First Order in the movie is Captain Phasma. A set of pictures posted on Collider from Disney’s D23 Expo, show the costume of the character along with the Stormtroopers, BB-8 and other costumes from the movie.
There was no new trailer at the D23 Expo, but some of the cast members were part of the panel presentation at the event. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is slated to be released on Dec 17, 2015 in Australia.
