‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Plot: Daisy Ridley Befriends A Blue Alien, Hints Lupita Nyong'o’s Role—Report
New concept photos for the blue alien in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" have emerged. The authenticity of the photos remains uncertain, but according to a report, the character is believed to be the one Lupita Nyong'o will portray in the movie.
Jason Ward provided a clear description of the alien character over at Makingstarwars. The blue alien whom Ward codenamed as "Rose" will reportedly be Finn (John Boyega) and Rey's (Daisy Ridley) sidekick as they journey to find Luke Skywalker.
For its appearance, Rose is depicted in the photo with a long neck, human-like mouth and eyes, which are very far apart from each other. According to Ward, the latter gives the alien an Asian-like appearance. However, its face is devoid of any nose. Instead, in its place is a half-circle shape, something he likened to a rainbow or an upside smiley face, which allegedly gives the character a serious look instead of it being comical. All together, the alien has a stern yet friendly face, Ward said.
According to the site, the blue alien will meet Finn and Rey somewhere in the Exotic City. A previous report from the International Business Times claimed the city is the new modern base for the rebel warriors. It was allegedly even depicted in the trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as seen on the lush greenery and sparkling waters where the X-wings were soaring over.
The first meeting supposedly happens in a "Fruit Stand." Ward described the location in the Exotic City as "a building with arches and a giant sunroof at the top of it." Directly under the "sunroof is a centerpiece where Rose resides," he added. In this concept photo, Rey is looking for the alien while the character is seen chopping off some food at a table to be served to the people.
The next meeting supposedly takes place in the same location, although this time Rey and Rose have already befriended each other. The concept photo shows Rose waving her hand up to cheerfully greet Rey.
Ward also pointed out that the centerpiece where Rose is seen at the Fruit Stand could easily be used to stage a puppet animation. According to the IBTimes, Lupita Nyong'o's role in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" involves motion capture to bring the blue alien to life. The actress was reportedly even assigned a "Rose's Room" at the Greenham Common set of the movie, the name being referred to the puppet which Lupita will animate.
