'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' theory: Ending inspired by first two trilogies; Lupita Nyong’o on keeping secrets
A new theory about the last scene in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” looks at how there may be a dramatic event in the film, just as there were in the sequel movies of the previous two trilogies. Meanwhile, cast member Lupita Nyong’o said that knowing all the plot spoilers made her feel powerful.
Lucasfilm and Disney are slowly starting to remove the shroud of secrecy of the upcoming Rian Johnson film. This started with the title reveal a short while ago. In an interview with Cinemablend, Nyong’o joked about how powerful she feels for knowing all the things the fans are desperate to find out.
Nyong’o said that she loves the fact that she isn’t allowed to speak about the upcoming film. She feels like she has a secret that everyone wants to know about, and this makes her feel powerful. But, every time Lucasfilm or someone from the team reveals a detail about the film, the actress feels “sad” because she has lost some of that power.
Meanwhile, a new video posted on the YouTube channel of Mike Zeroh looks at what could be the last scene in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” The theory is based on the last scenes in “Attack of the Clones” and “Empire Strikes Back.”
The following part of the article contains a theory which could be a potential spoiler for the upcoming film. There is also mention of a previous leak related to Rey (Daisy Ridley). Fans who do not wish to know anything about the film are advised to stop here.
Mike points out that in the sequel movies of both the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy, there have been scenes of the protagonist losing a hand. The last scene showed the robotic hand of Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in their respective movies.
Will there be another robotic hand in the upcoming film? Mike points out that a previous leak about the film suggested that Ridley filed a few scenes with green sleeves. Since she is the protagonist of the new trilogy; it is quite possible that she will lose a hand and use a robotic one in the last scene.
Mike, however, points out that “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” could also do this a little differently. Instead of a hand, Rey could lose a foot or they could be minimalist about it and just chop off her finger.
