'Star Wars Rebels' Plot Details: Lone Jedi Kanan Introduced, Actions Inspired From Indiana Jones
"Star Wars VII" is due for release in December 2015. The film is creating immense buzz as it is the first "Star Wars" film to hit the theatres after 2012. The last Star Wars film was titled "Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi." However, to keep the fan's curiosity going, a new "Star Wars" animated series has hit the TV screens. The series is called "Star Wars Rebels."
The series aired on Disney XD channel and was developed by Dave Filoni. The first episode of the show was titled "Driods in Distress" and it introduced characters such as Ezra, Kanan and more. Kanan is the lone Jedi in the group and is troubled with the times as Jedis are being hunted, reports Slash Film.
The series would feature only few characters from the last six "Star Wars films" and would introduce a new set of characters. The target audience of the show are children and not adults, according to The Guardian.
"It has to have a broad reach of characters: you can't just rely on Luke and Leia," Filoni was quoted as saying on the Web site. "We have to give each new generation of kids a new generation of characters to follow."
Moreover, a lot of action in the film has been inspired from "Indiana Jones," The Guardian further reports. Filoni also spoke about how he is working in all the genres of "Star Wars" series including the video games and spinoffs.
"In this day and age, something fans love is when they see something on television, and it's reflected in the movie, then they play a game of it, and it all fits together... and Star Wars is this big continuous thing," Filoni said about his experience of working with different genres.
"Star Wars Rebels" airs Monday at 9 PM. he first season would have 16 episodes. Prior to the series, a 44-minute film titled "Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion," was aired on October 3.
