'Star Wars Resistance': Leia Organa will be back
“Star Wars Resistance” animation TV series is going to bring back a few popular characters in the movies, including Leia Organa. The character that the late Carrie Fisher played for so long will be voiced by another actress for the show.
According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, “Tammy’s Tiny Tea Time” actress Rachel Butera will be lending her voice to the character Leia in the animation series. The actress previously leant her voice for Meryl Streep in the “Family Guy” animation series. Her other projects include “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and “Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”
Some of the unused footage of Fisher is currently being used to bring her character back in the next “Star Wars” film by JJ Abrams. It remains to be seen if they will do the same in the animation series.
The plot of the TV series is set at a time when the First Order was rising to be a threat in the galaxy. Leia was a towering figure in the Resistance during the war against Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), so the character will be an important figure during this time period as well.
Two other cast members from the movies that have been confirmed for the animation series are Oscar Isaac (Voice of Poe Dameron) and Gwendoline Christie (Voice of Captain Phasma). It remains to be seen which other cast members will be reprising their role on the show.
Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) has already reprised his role in the “Rebels” animation series, and he is also set to return in the flesh in the upcoming movie. It remains to be seen if his character will appear in the TV series as well.
“Star Wars Resistance” is the story of a young pilot named Kazuda Xiono (Voice by Christopher Sean), who is recruited by Poe Dameron to spy on the First Order.
