If a new Star Wars virtual reality movie, which features Darth Vader already, had a lot of loyal fans screaming in excitement, things get even more exciting following confirmation that writer of hit first person shooter “Call of Duty: Black Ops” is stepping in.

A report by Variety says that LucasFilm, which was previously acquired by Disney, is already working on a virtual reality project that will focus on the popular Sith Lord, who has become an icon in his own name: Darth Vader.

This was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in London. The story will reportedly dig deeper into the antagonist’s past and will reveal through vibrant storytelling about who he is and how he came to be.

David S. Goyer, the impeccable mastermind behind the storyline of “Call of Duty: Blackops,” “Man of Stee,l” and “Batman Begins,” will again showcase his genius in this upcoming colossal project. Goyer previewed the project at the celebration in London.

“What character is so iconic that we need to know more? [Where] we can’t sleep at night and want to experience things that can’t be experienced in film, or can’t be experienced in a novel,” Goyer said. “And we came up with … this person,” says Goyer according to a post on Entertainment Weekly.

This will not just be a spinoff. It is an official story within the Star Wars universe and is to be considered canon. The production team is not even quite sure as to how they will label the project, since “film” or “movie” would not exactly encompass it. Goyer described the experience in the project as having the audience somewhere between passive and active.

While it cannot be played like how an ordinary game would be, it also is not merely watched since the audience is in it as part of the story. The audience will be able to open doors, pick up objects, talk to characters and explore on his own and ultimately, experience having the Sith Lord walk, talk and breathe in front of them.

The production crew expects the project to be released in a year or two.
