The Stars That Sizzled During The First Ever Australian Academy of Cinema and TV Awards [PHOTOS]
Hollywood has been filled with a lot of amazing Aussie actors who have achieved their own memorable milestones in their acting career. But with this first ever Australian Academy of Cinema and TV Awards, it was about time for the big Aussie names to also give back and pay tribute to the rest of the nation's best talents.
The biggest Aussie names made it to present awards from Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, and Geoffrey Rush, the recently proclaimed Australian of the Year. According to 'The Gladiator' actor Crowe, the events night is the result of all their hard work, planning and long conversations.
Other Australian stars who were also spotted during the event include Liam Hemsworth, Bella Heathcote, Joel Edgerton and also Phillip Noyce.
The Awardees
Meryl Streep's name was once again on the lead of said awarding ceremony held at the Soho House. She grabbed the Best Actress award for her performance in 'The Iron Lady.'
The movie entitled 'The Artist' also too home several trophies which include those for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director.
According to the chief executive of the AACTA, the rest of the awards will be given honourable recognition at the Sydney Opera House come Tuesday night. The award giving body is not just supportive of their home grown talents but also of the rest of the actors who make the entire industry such a lively place to work in.
Other movies like 'Margin Call' and 'The Ides of March' went for a tie for the Best Screenplay category due to the number of votes given out and decided upon by the members of the jury.
