Stephen Harper’s Battle Cry at Whitehorse
The 8th annual summer tour of the Arctic by Stephen Harper turned out to be a platform for the prime minister of Canada to prove a few points to his opposition.
The Canadian PM delivered a strongly combative speech which was used to hammer his opposition. In the highly partisan speech he muscularly defended his individual board record. The Whitehorse crowd witnessed an eloquent Harper who did not hesitate to offend his Opposition to prove his point.
The government is truly on the face. There is no hidden agendum under the blanket, whereas the dangerous as well as vacuous ideas of the opposition are definitely going to reverse the kind of progress the government has made so far, said Mr Harper.
Harper's speech seemed more suitable for a party convention scheduled in June but was postponed. Mr Harper sounded less relaxed for the occasion. He sounded more like a pumped up campaigner. He boasted that that government had already delivered what it was expected to. The feats were achieved in spite of the constant presence of the unreasonable Opposition, he opined.
The government promised 100 pledges during the previous election. Mr Harper claims that 84 of those have been already accomplished. He continued to talk about the critical issues he campaigned on back in 2011. The issues included more personal freedom, stronger punishment for criminals and lower tax levels.
Mr Harper missed no opportunity to criticise Tom Mulcair for going to Washington. According to Mr Harper, Mr Mulcair privately advocated against Canadian jobs and energy exports. On the other hand, he said that the Liberals were never heard talking about any alternatives as they had none. Harper criticiaed Justin Trudeay, the Liberal spearhead who advocated the legalisation of marijuana. Mr Harper did not consider the same as one of the serious policies of the nation.
Mr Harper's speech presumed nothing to suggest that he might have been considering stepping down even before the party gets ready for the subsequent election. The speculation of the same was strongly nullified as he promised to the avid party followers that he, along with the party, would be ready for the potential challenges which they must face to take the nation forward.
