Before the first game of the Bledisloe Cup, the Wallabies camp was at the centre of attention of the media because of several bold remarks coming from players and management alike.

However, after the 47-29 thrashing handed down by the All Blacks to the Australians in the opener, the noise have simmered down as the latter looks to regard focus as a key element to coming up with a better performance on Saturday night.

New Zealand Coach Steve Hansen remains vigilant despite their win as he observes that Ewen McKenzie's side has since avoided making propaganda and is concentrating on their preparations.

"They're obviously going to be more dangerous and the first sign of that is that they're not talking as much this week," Hansen told the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) on Thursday morning.

"If we were in their situation - and we were eight years ago - we would just shut down and get right into it. The mentality would be that we've got to go out and prove a point and I'm sure that's what they're going to do so we have to match that."

The Wallabies are expected to make valiant efforts to limit their turnovers, which contributed to handing the Kiwis 6 tries.

"They'll change the way they play, they came out and thought they could run the ball from everywhere and made a lot of unforced errors and we capitalised on those," he said.

"They'll look to reduce those so we've got to go out and play smart again and have a preparation that allows us to turn up with a real intensity and a focus that can get the job done."

Meanwhile, Tom Taylor will start in lieu of Beauden Barrett, Aaron Cruden, and Dan Carter. On the other hand, Brodie Retallick will fill in for Luke Romano

Hansen intimated that Taylor's current form made him select the latter over experienced playmaker Colin Slade. Taylor's 90 per cent success rate in this year's Super Rugby tournament was the decisive to getting the nod.

"We think [Taylor] has got the maturity and mental ability to cope with what we're asking him to do," said Hansen.

"Probably the biggest swinger was that he kicks goals at 90 per cent and we think that's important."

Hansen also saw the retention of the same names at the back row coming.

"One of their issues last week was that they hadn't had a lot of time together from a game point of view," Hansen said.

"They'd done a lot of training but they hadn't done it at a high intensity game level and that will improve them having had that Test match."
