Steven Tyler Says Fall Was from Food Poisoning, not Drugs
Last Wednesday, Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler appeared to perform on stage looking busted. Now he claims it was due to food poisoning and not drugs.
Tyler's Tuesday show in Paraguay was postponed due to a fall resulting in bruises all over his eye and knocked out two front teeth.
"Quite frankly, I passed out. I was in the shower and I got nauseous and I started to get sick and I just, I fell on my face and I just passed out," the singer told the "Today" show's Matt Lauer Thursday by phone.
He said he woke up with the water running and clueless of where he was. After some stitches and dental repairs, the singer was back to business. He resumed his shows and hit the stage of Asuncion sporting his new teeth and his concealed bruises.
A rep of Tyler said the singer was dehydrated due to food poisoning that led to smashing his face and knocking a couple of teeth when he collapsed that night. They denied rumors that the singer might be back on drugs shortly after his release from rehab last year.
"It still bothers me a little bit, but that's something I have to deal with the rest of my life," Tyler said to Lauer about what people might think. The rockstar said it was clearly food poisoning and there were no drugs involved.
