Sting's 19th century performance for charity
Rock star Sting and his wife Trudie Styler last night delivered a 19th century performance for charity at Jazz at Lincoln Center. For a cause called the Culture Project and Music Unites, the couple gave their own version of an 1837 "Love Letters."
Against a sunset over Fifth Avenue background, Sting and Trudie performed "Twin Spirits," that is based on the letters between composer Robert Schumann and his decade-younger pianist wife Clara Wieck.
Actor David Straithairn narrated and Joshua Bell was on violin. Singers Nathan Gunn and Camille Zamora were also part of the show.
Notable figures in the audience were Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Denise Rich, actor Richard Kind, screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher, movie producer Bonnie Timmerman, and classical pianist Steven Masi.
Loads of rich patrons also attended the event, donating to a fund that retains music education in schools.
