Stone Cold Steve Austin In Talks To Fight Roman Reigns At Wrestlemania 31
It has been more than ten years since the Texas Rattlesnake has been inside the ring. Many are wondering when he will ever make his comeback to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) given that many of his contemporaries have already returned in some capacity.
The rumour mills are busy churning out that Stone Cold Steve Austin is targeting a return to Wrestlemania 31 and will be pitted against Roman Reigns. Wrestling news site, Inquisitor reports that an Austin and Reigns match is being eyed due to the recent prominence of Austin and in an effort to put back into prominence the injured Reigns.
The Texas Rattlesnake was last seen in Wrestlemania XX when he came back as guest referee for the Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg match but since then he has been concentrating on his podcast and his two TV shows.
Pundits are saying that Austin hurt his reputation and fan base when he took on minor roles and overextended his exposure in the WWE with RAW sheriff role and his inexplicably bad rivalry with Eric Bischoff.
On the other hand, Roman reigns is raring to get back on the map after his disappointing appearance at Summer Slam and his shelving at Night of Champions. Reigns was pulled out of the lineup just two nights before Night of Champions to undergo an emergency procedure for incarcerated hernia.
It would not be wise to pit a returning fighter against the established champion Brock Lesnar in Wrestlemania 31 when there are other available match-ups that can be made.
The said match would be the perfect opportunity for Austin to come in via a guest appearance. Both parties could potentially benefit from the pairing with Austin being thrust back to the limelight and being given more opportunities for successive matches and Reigns finding his way back and regaining his mojo by rumbling it out with an established star. And it would be also safe to say that whoever comes out a winner in the fight will be able to push forward additional appearances and possibly the dream fight with the Beast Incarnate. For now, we wait.
