Everybody wants a piece of the current WWE world heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar. Everybody has to get in line. First, there's John Cena who had his first crack at getting a belt at the Night of Champions, Sunday. There's also the Undertaker who is recuperating from a neck and head injury from the stunning loss he suffered at Wrestlemania 30. Then there's a long list of other possibilities including Sting, CM Punk or even The Rock. Now here's another name: Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Wrestling Rumours reports that Austin is getting back to the gym as preparation for a shot at a comeback in the WWE. This one final match is expected to take place at Wrestlemania 31, just six months away. There are some credence to the Web site's claims given that during Monday Night Raw, the commentating team of Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and John Bradshaw Layfield mentioned Stone Cold's podcast. Now there are reports emerging that the outfit has also made large orders of Austin merchandise over the past few weeks, though it has no direct ties with his podcast.

We may be just six months away from again witnessing 3:16 perform his patented Stunner, or gulp huge quantities of ice cold beer, drive around his ATV, and yes, pummel Brock Lesnar. As mentioned a while ago, Lesnar is at the bull's eye of every wrestler, including Austin.

Six months is still a long time since many can happen between then and now. There is Cena's threat to take his belt at Tennessee this Sunday, or WWE may just go with their plan to install Roman Reigns as the new face of the franchise, but nothing is set in stone.

It can be recalled that the Beast Incarnate and Austin have some history together. The last time they tangoed was ten years ago at Wrestlemania XX in the final appearance of Lesnar. Austin was the special referee of the Lesnar-Goldberg match, which ended unceremoniously when he gave both fighters his renowned Stunner. Fans would prefer the bald wrestler go up against another legendary name, in CM Punk, but with legal impediments, that fight may never see the light of day.

A lot depends on what happens Sunday. With the way Triple H has been building up Cena, all bets are off if he may just reclaim his belt. That will derail the plan to give way to new golden boy Roman Reigns. And with The Rock leaning on returning to the wrestling scene, there are a million matches that can be thought of and storylines to be weaved.

Nevertheless, it is always good to hear some legends gracing the ring once again. For now, watch how Stone Cold Steve Austin makes a surprise appearance at Smackdown to retrieve his stolen ATV:
