Strategic Airlines, Australia’s newest domestic and international airline, has acquired a Brisbane engineering maintenance facility and new corporate headquarters in Brisbane.

The company today confirmed it had leased major new premises in Brisbane including an engineering hangar facility at Brisbane International Airport and a new Corporate Headquarters.

“Pending the granting by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Strategic’s engineering license, we intend to use the original Boeing hangar facility to undertake engineering maintenance on the A320 fleet,” said Managing Director Michael James.

“Currently Strategic’s fleet is maintained in Melbourne due to engineering and hangar constraints,” he said.

“We look forward to carrying out our own maintenance right here in Brisbane with our own resources and creating engineering jobs and apprenticeships within South East Queensland” Mr James added.

Strategic also confirmed the company’s corporate functions would relocate to a larger Headquarters at Navigator Place in Hendra due to the rapid expansion of the airline.

“Due to growth associated with our new passenger services, it was imperative to find additional space which could meet our needs now and in the future,” Mr James said.

“Our new corporate headquarters is triple the size of our current premises at Brisbane Airport and provides greater flexibility for our staff and to enable us to adequately accommodate additional positions in the future,” he said.

Strategic Airlines expects to add a further A330 aircraft to its fleet later this year with new international and domestic destinations planned as well as doubling its already 200+ strong team within the next 12 months.
