‘Street Fighter V’ update: Capcom looking to solidify game as an eSports title; Support till 2020 confirmed
“Street Fighter V” game’s executive producer Yoshinori Ono has revealed that Capcom will be providing support for the game till 2020. Thus, players will be seeing a lot of game development and updates in coming future, which is definitely a thing to rejoice.
“It's not just a 1-2 year thing. We're looking pretty far ahead ... We've planned out as far as 2020 or so,” Ono told Famitsu, which was then translated by Event Hubs.
“Street Fighter V’s” development schedule looks strong and fans are surely happy about it. Fellow producer Tomoaki Ayano added to the comment made by Ono, stating that they are adding on to the game as it goes along. Developers are constantly planning ahead to keep the game growing.
When asked whether Capcom will come up with a non-street fighter fighting title before the next entry in the “Street Fighter” series, Ono explained they would happy to do so only after they have solidified “Street Fighter V” as an eSports title. The game has drawn a higher number of entrants compared to the previous title but Capcom is looking to multiply the numbers further.
Ono is looking for more participation in order to host bigger tournaments. This will in turn bring in more viewers. Eventually this will lead to sales that will decide the future. So all of it is inter-connected and Capcom is playing its cards after a lot of thinking and analysis.
Capcom is already teasing a new character and stage and in a bid to make “Street Fighter V” more tournament-friendly, it dropped the game’s latest stage, Skies of Honor, from being used in the Capcom Cup, reports Game Spot. Neither Ono nor Ayano commented on what Capcom is planning for the game in the coming four years. Season 2 plans are also not known.
