Stricken by Nastiness, Negativity; 'ANTM' Judge Charlotte Dawson Quits for Peace of Mind
Stricken by too much nastiness and negativity in television, Foxtel star and "Australia's Next Top Model" (ANTM) judge, Charlotte Dawson, is quitting the life of glitz and glamour to pursue a job in real estate, where she will not be judged for her looks or age.
She was reported to complete the last of her few remaining media commitments before winding up her television career and taking up a job at Regency Real Estate in Sydney.
"Then I'll morph into the new world. It's a clean break.''
In her new role, she will focus on affordable housing and initiatives to combat homelessness.
Charlotte is doing something which very few celebrities are capable of.
"I'm ageing and I'm accepting that. The graceful thing, the dignified thing, is to walk away,'' she was quoted as saying.
"The pressure has lifted off my shoulders. It's given me great peace of mind,'' Charlotte told Herald Sun.
''I'm tired of the anxiety that comes with working in media, especially as a woman, because you're scrutinised daily, and abused about the way you look.''
The 47-year-old, New Zealand-born Australian television personality, is well-known at home as host of "Getaway, How's Life?" and "Charlotte's Lists," and in Australia, as host of "The Contender Australia" and judge on "ANTM."
Charlotte said she will finish up the last of her media commitments before gracefully exiting the public eye.
Terming her experience in the media as wonderful, Charlotte, however, said that lot of her anxieties and upsets have been due to very public life.
Famous for her role as a judge on "Australia's Next Top Model," Dawson was hospitalised after a fight with Twitter trolls last year and has also battled depression.
"Australia's Next Top Model" is a reality show, with the objective of finding a promising fashion models.
