Let us take a stroll back in the previous Miss Universe pageants and see how the other representatives from the Philippines were so close to getting the crown and title of Miss Universe.

This year's Miss World, Megan Young, a representative from the Philippines was the first to have ever won the crown for her country the Philippines in the Miss World pageant. The Philippines and its countrymen were very happy indeed with Megan Young's win. They have been able to dominate all categories in these beauty pageants proving that they are a country that has one of the most women in the world.

The up and coming Miss Universe pageant is just a few weeks away and all the representatives from each country are starting to prepare for the title. This year's Miss Philippines is in a tight spot to bag the crown as people are now expecting candidates from the Philippines to wow the world around.

In 2010, crowd favorite and almost the "sure winner" of the crown, Venus Raj, was so close to getting the crown. She did not win it because according to most pageant experts, the question asked to her was the hardest among the questions asked to the remaining top 5 candidates. Venus Raj was the 4th Runner Up but remained the favorite candidate for the Miss Universe pageant in the world.

In the year 2011, Shamcey Supsup almost got the crown as she came in as the 3rd runner up and in 2012, Janine Tugonon was crowned the 1st runner up as Miss USA, won the crown and the title of Miss Universe.
