Study Reveals An Increase In Men Going In For "Moob" Surgery, For Almond Like Nipples Like David Beckham
The Almond Shaped and Round Nipples are Said to Be the Most Ideal Nipples
There is a new craze for small almond shaped nipples among men. The Daily Mail reported that men are getting their nipples made smaller with surgery. Several men are approaching plastic surgeons and spending thousands of pounds to make their nipples flatter and smaller.
Those with male breasts or "moobs" are reducing the size of their moobs and are tightening up the skin in those parts. The skin tightening is done by those who have lost a lot of weight and have loose skin. According to the Daily Mail, altering the nipple size has caught the fancy of bodybuilders and those who have lost a lot of weight.
This sudden rise for the nipple alteration surgery came to the limelight due to a study conducted by plastic surgeon Jeyaram Srinivasan, of the Royal Preston Hospital. He does private as well as NHS work and does 40 nipple reductions a year.
For the study, 62 volunteers were asked to analyse 100 topless photos of men. After which they were required to state the most desirable nipples that appealed to them. The photos were those of models and men who go to the gym often due to them being body conscious.
The volunteers included both men and women and the majority of them opted for nipples that were, "symmetrical, flat and slightly darker that surrounding skin."
From his research Srinivasan believes that he has found the ideal nipple shape for men. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons annual conference heard that nipples that are round or almond shaped are the most appealing and the ideal shape of a nipple.
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, David Beckham has almond shaped nipples which it calls the ideal shaped nipple for men and so does Mark Wright. Wright of The Only Way is Essex has round and flat nipples that are darker than the surrounding area.
Srinivasan's study found that it was not just men but also women who find the almond and the round shaped nipple desirable. He said that women are put off by protruding nipple.
He stated that men who opt for the surgery and spent £2,000 are mostly those who have lost a lot of weight and want to remove their "man boobs." Some are just overly conscious of their looks.
He said that a few years ago only women opted for plastic surgery. In the past, the concept of surgery to enhance a person's looks was not too common among men as they were not conscious of their looks, he stated. But now the perspective of looks haschanged among both genders he said. Men don't mind paying a few extra pounds to look better.
Dr Srinivasan said, "A well-toned torso will make people accept a nipple that is less than ideal. They are distracted by something more important to look at."
