The subways of U.S and Paris may be on the radar of ISIL as targets for a terrorist strike. The Prime Minister of Iraq has reportedly said that he has received intelligence reports after recent arrests in his country which has led to the uncovering of this new plot.

U.S. officials have reportedly been warned of this threat by ISIL. According to a report by NewYorkPost, NYPD has beefed up security following the threat. The city is home to the United Nations headquarters that is currently hosting leaders from across the globe for an address to the United Nations General Assembly.

The Iraq Prime Minister reportedly said that he had received "accurate reports from Baghdad," about ISIL targeting the subway in the U.S and Paris, France. Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, assured the citizens that the city is better prepared to handle the terrorist threat and took a ride in the subway from the World Trade Centre to Penn Station to further assure the people.

The Governor said that the aim of the terrorists is to disrupt the lifestyle of the people and asked the people to go about their business. He asked the people not to be alarmed by the increased police presence and asked the people to approach an officer close by if they seeHe also reminded the people to follow the policy of "if you see something say something." something suspicious.

The Governor also said that the NYPD was coordinating with the FBI in light of the terrorist threat and assured the people that the law enforcement agencies were working hard to keep the people safe.

The Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott, is currently in New York City. He is there to address the United Nations General Assembly. In his address the Prime Minister highlighted the contributions made by Australia to the UN and hoped nations can work to make the lives of the citizens better through economic development.

The President of the U.S, Barack Obama, reiterated his commitment to degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist organisation ISIL in his UN address. The U.S recently started air strikes in Syria with the support of a coalition of nations from the region and across the globe. The current United Nations General Assembly makes New York City a target for retaliation by terrorists.
