The David Ayer film "Suicide Squad" is still two years away before its release. However, production is apparently already rounding up its list of cast members. A new report adds up another name to the list of actors speculated to have already landed roles in the DC film.

Sources tell Variety that "Divergent" star Jai Courtney is in talks to play a major character in "Suicide Squad." The 28-year-old Australian is said to be eyed for the role of Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. "Deadshot."

In the original DC Comics, Deadshot is considered as a lethal DC Universe villain because of his skills as an expert assassin. However, he became Batman's nemesis after he was taken down by the caped crusader and sentenced to life imprisonment. His reputation as a marksman eventually reached the Suicide Squad's leader, Amanda Waller. To earn his freedom, Deadshot decides to join the team of villains under Waller's command.

Jai Courtney's role, even his involvement in the movie, is still unconfirmed. However, IGN thinks it's a bit weird that Jai, who's not big a star as Will Smith, would be given a high-profile role as Deadshot. Will Smith is reportedly in talks to play as The Flash's nemesis, Digger Harkness a.k.a. Captain Boomerang.

Other actors and actresses believed to be in "various stages of discussions" for roles in "Suicide Squad" include Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. Per Variety, Warner Bros. is courting the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Leto to play the Joker while Australian beauty Robbie is eyed for Harley Quinn. Tom Hardy is speculated to play as Rick Flag in the supervillain movie. The latter is believed to be a founding member of the Suicide Squad.

This casting remains unconfirmed by producers and Warner Bros. However, per Movieweb, it's interesting to note that only Deadshot and Captain Boomerang were part of the rumoured roster for "Suicide Squad." Instead, the said roster listed other villains including Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, Mindboggler and Vixen.

Aside from his rumoured role as Deadshot in "Suicide Squad," Jai Courtney is set to appear in a number of high-profile titles. He will reprise his "Divergent" role as Eric in "Insurgent." Jai will also star in "Terminator Genisys," "Unbroken" and "The Water Diviner."
