'Suits' Season 2: 'I was totally psyched that Donna got fired' - Sarah Rafferty [Must-See Video]
"Suits" Season 2 is coming out of hiatus and returning to USA Network with fresh episodes this month. Sarah Rafferty, who plays one of the top favorite characters in the legal drama series, spoke to reporters to reveal bits and pieces of what's coming up.
Spoiler alert: This feature contains spoilers for those who have not seen "Suits" Season 2.
Suits Season 2 left viewers having mixed feelings about Mike. On the one hand, you can understand how miserable Mike must be. He has a great job, but he walks on fire every day. He can't be with the girl he really seems to love. Then his beloved grandma died.
But on the other hand, he got wasted and slept with a married old sweetheart to get past the misery. And must he be caught by Rachel? All right, he didn't plan the latter, but viewers couldn't help but wonder when would Mike Ross really man up?
Sarah Rafferty Enjoys a Darker 'Suits'
"It did get darker this season. And I have enjoyed it, I think we all have. I think because the nature of being in the second season there was the time and the luxury to really dig in with these people. And, you know, as an actor I was totally psyched that Donna got fired and all that messy stuff that was going to come out of that," Rafferty told entertainment reporters in a conference call last month.
Rafferty has been consistent in saying she likes seeing the darker, antagonistic side of the Suits characters. After her character Donna was fired earlier in the second season, Rafferty was thrilled Donna and Harvey would not be on the same page for a while.
"She's completely confused that she could have messed up so badly. She feels horrible about it and incredibly concerned about the damage that she's potentially done to Harvey's career and his life," she told TV Line.
But that's been sorted out now. Donna is back at the firm, and Harvey has shown Jessica he's got her back. What's happening next in Suits?
"Hardman may be gone, but all-out war is about to erupt in the office. Expect some big power plays directed at the firm and within the firm in the first two episodes. Meanwhile, Mike will feel the consequences of having slept with the married Tess, especially when it comes to his relationship with Rachel. Even a surprising confession from Rachel to Mike, which reveals that they have more in common than they thought, can't undo the damage," TV Line's Michael Ausiello reported.
