“Suits” Season 5 returns Jan. 27 on USA network. The last six episodes will focus on Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), according to series creator Aaron Korsh. The show boss also said the character who got Mike arrested is “not necessarily poetic.” Who sold Mike out?
Spoiler alert: This update contains “Suits” Season 5 spoilers. Read on at your own risk if you have yet to watch the first 10 episodes of the season.
Moments after handing over his resignation from Pearson Specter Litt, Mike Ross gets arrested for “conspiracy to commit fraud.” In “Suits” Season 5 Episode 11, there could be one or more arrests, assuming the authorities have enough evidence to name Ross’ accomplices. (Read this for more spoilers on the next new episode.)
Is the arrest just a ploy to shock the audience, or is directly related to Ross’ affairs as a fake lawyer? Korsh has spoken to various media channels to give a combination of “Suits” Season 5 spoilers and teasers.
“I probably thought [the “Suits” series finale] would be Mike being discovered, maybe five years in. So we’re five years in. Let’s have him be discovered and push on through and figure out what happens after that,” Korsh told The Hollywood Reporter, hinting that the arrest is directly related to the central secret in the series -- Mike’s fraudulent career.
Korsh said in the same THR interview that unlike everyone in the creative team and the audience, he didn’t ask who sold Mike out. He said he was more concerned with what happens next. The show boss pointed out that in real life, the person who ultimately got Mike arrested might never be known. However, he had some clue as to the identity of this person.
On Twitter, the “Suits” account is inviting the audience to guess the person who sold out Mike Ross. See a sample tweet below.
In describing the person behind Mike’s arrest, Korsh told THR the creative team has chosen someone that may not be poetic in the grand scheme of things. In a separate interview with TV Line, Korsh implied that he hopes to surprise the viewers when “Suits” Season 5 returns.
“We don’t find out right away, but we will find out [who sold out Mike Ross]. Hopefully, it will be someone that you do not expect,” the show boss said. This means “Suits” Season 5 Episode 11 could be about immediate reactions of the people at the firm -- Harvey (Gabriel Macht), Donna (Sarah Rafferty), Jessica (Gina Torres) and Litt (Rick Hoffman).
Fans have a number of theories on who could have sold Mike Ross out. Here is one theory from the show’s Twitter account:
