Suns Trade Rumors: Suns to Send First-Round Pick for Thaddeus Young of Philadelphia 76ers
The Phoenix Suns are reportedly interested to get the service of Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young, a source close to situation reported this week.
Armed with four first round picks in this year's draft, the up-and-coming Suns are reportedly willing to part ways with one of their first rounders in exchange for Young, who has been a stud with the Sixers this season.
"Source: One team very interested in #Sixers forward Thad Young? Phoenix. Suns have 4 extra first round picks over next two NBA Drafts," NBA Insider Jake Fischer reported last week.
Young is averaging 17.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc. He has been on fire since his alleged trade request several weeks ago, scoring 185 points on 129 shots over the Sixers' last seven games.
SB Nation NBA analyst Michael Levin provided in his latest article a concrete description on how good Young has been playing as of late and the likelihood the Suns will pull off this trade.
"Since his trade request a few weeks ago, Thaddeus Young has played like an absolute stud. Add in 30 efficient points last night in a win over Portland, and you've got 185 points on 129 shots over his last 7 games -- 26.4 efficient points a night."
"But as much as he's played like it lately, Thad's not a superstar, and with his chance to opt out after next season, it may be best to get something for him lest he walks before the Sixers are contending. Enter: the Phoenix Suns."
Potential Suns-Sixers Trade
For this trade to materialise, the Suns has to give up at least one of their four first round picks (perhaps five as they also own the Lakers' first round pick (top-5 protected) in 2015) and some of their youngsters like Archie Goodwin or Marcus Morris, or maybe Emeka Okafor's fat expiring contract.
"In terms of pick specifics -- specipicks, if you will -- this year, they have three protected first rounders in addition to their own. Minnesota's (1-13), which could go either way, Washington (1-12), which seems a bit more likely to clear, and Indiana (1-14), a definite. They've also got the Lakers pick in 2015, protected in the Top 5."
