Brenda Strong has recently been cast for a mysterious recurring role in the second season of “Supergirl” on The CW. Strong will reportedly interact with Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) in the new storyline.

The actress, who is known for her roles in “Desperate Housewives” and “Starship Troopers,” will be joining the “Supergirl” Season 2 cast. The character whom she will be playing has not yet been detailed, but there will reportedly be a surprising exchange between Kara and James. Accordingly, Brenda is said to have made a strong impression in the season premiere.

It is still uncertain how long Strong’s character will appear in “Supergirl” Season 2 and whether she will be interacting with Kara Zor-El or Kara Danvers. Fans speculate that if Brenda is dealing with Danvers, she might be linked to CatCo Worldwide Media, headed by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). If the character transacts with Zor-El, she may be connected to the DEO and Martian Manhunter. On the other hand, some believe that Brenda’s character could be a villain that poses a new threat to the city.

Entertainment Weekly wrote that “Supergirl” Season 2 will also feature new characters aside from Brenda Strong’s mysterious role. Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) will appear in at least one episode. There will be more tension between Kara and James. There will be a new threat in National City, which some speculate Brenda Strong will be a part of, prompting Supergirl to work with he cousin, Superman. Kara will be glad to have her cousin around, although Alex (Chyler Leigh) may feel somewhat left out. In the meantime, Hank (David Harewood) and Kara are still surprised by the pod that crashed in the previous season.

“Supergirl” Season 2 is set to air on Oct. 10, 2016 on The CW. The story will reportedly be a combination of action and comedy. Glen Winter directed the premiere episode, while Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg wrote the story. Jessica Queller and Kreisberg worked on the teleplay.
