'Supergirl' season 2 storyline driven largely by 'The Flash' season 2 ending
"Supergirl" season 2 premieres in the fall of 2016 on The CW
“Supergirl” Season 2 is currently in the works, while “The Flash” has been renewed for a third season. There are rumors that the Season 2 finale of “The Flash” may shape the story of the next season of “Supergirl.”
The Season 2 finale of “The Flash,” titled “The Race of His Life,” was inspired by the “Flashpoint” storyline in the comics, which could impact the universe of both Arrow and Supergirl. Previously, Barry (Grant Gustin) discovered that the real Jay Garrick is his father’s doppelganger.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the big twist in the finale was Barry having to undo the saving of his mother. He decided to go back in time when he saved his mother from being killed by Reverse-Flash.
Fansided writes that the worlds of Arrow and Supergirl could be affected by The Flash’s traveling back in time. In the comics, every character had a number of changes when The Flash moved back. The same approach could be used in the TV story. When he returned to the present, Supergirl already exists on Earth-1.
Oliver Queen spent five years struggling on an island. The only change was that everything that Supergirl did in Season 1 occurred in National City of Earth-1. All the characters on the Arrowverse already know Supergirl.
“Supergirl” will also transfer to The CW, so more talks about crossovers started since the news. The CW is planning to feature a four-show crossover in fall 2016, which may follow the same pattern in previous seasons and happen on Episode 8. It is also possible to do the crossover at the start of “Supergirl” Season 2. Both “Supergirl” and “Arrow,” which will be on its fifth season, may begin with its own version the “Flashpoint” event.
It would be ideal for “Arrow” to have more big baddies to deal with, capable of lasting an entire season, like Reverse-Flash and Zoom. “The Flash” Season 2 closed in an impressive manner, making it one of the best shows on The CW that could help other superhero stories in the future.
More updates and details on “Supergirl” Season 2, “The Flash” Season 3 and “Arrow” Season 5 are expected soon.
