‘Supernatural’ creator Eric Kripke solves show’s biggest mystery + Cast posts photos of their last day of season 11 filming

“Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke exited from the show after season 5, but he came back to answer one of the show’s biggest mysteries from the very first episode.
In 2005, the US fantasy horror series made its debut on television. It immediately got a decent number of viewers hooked. There’s one scene about the first episode that got people wondering, though.
After Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) dropped off his brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) at his home he shared with his girlfriend Jessica (guest star Adrianne Palicki), he drove off but returned after a few minutes, just in time to save Sam from the burning house. Sam was left shocked upon seeing Jessica burning on the ceiling, the same way their mother died when he was still a baby.
But what prompted Dean to go back to the house? That was the biggest mystery in that episode, one that was left unsolved for 11 years. On Monday, Kripke finally answered the lingering question on Twitter.
There was a scene we cut: Dean's watch goes wonky, like Mom's clock in the beginning. That turned him around. #SPN https://t.co/Wah7ngZTw5

For those who have watched the extras on DVD, however, it’s not so much a mystery. One fan added his two cents on the scene, reminding Kripke of what really happened.
Yep! Car radio fritzes like baby monitor; Dean's watch stops like clock in the Nursery. All coming back to me! #SPN https://t.co/buFdA0mAy1

So there it is, one of the biggest questions in “Supernatural” has finally been answered, 11 years later. The show, which also stars Misha Collins and Mark A. Sheppard, is about to end its 11th season. The cast have recently wrapped production on the current season, with Collins, Padalecki and Ackles posting photos of their last day.
The show will be back for its 12th season later this year.
