The brand new episode revealed the reason why Cole is after Dean Winchester through a flashback scene. Cole told Sam that Dean murdered his father in 2003 so he obviously wants revenge.
Cole further added that if Sam tells him where his brother is, Sam can walk away. When Sam refused, Cole started to torture the younger Winchester for answers.
Sam even told Cole that Dean is really Dean at the moment and tried to convince him that monsters like vampires and werewolves are real but Cole did not buy it. Sam managed to get away from Cole when he stepped outside to take a phone call from his wife and kid.
Then, Sam calls Castiel (Misha Collins) to inform him that they should pick up Dean and Crowley's trail. Sam finally tells Castiel, who is with Hannah (Erica Carroll), that Dean is now a demon.
Sam and Castiel were supposed to meet but the angel had a car accident because of his fading grace. Hannah wants to help Castiel and she tried to by asking Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) where Castiel's grace is.
Metatron offered Hannah a deal where he will give Castiel's grace back but she must let him out. Fortunately, Castiel arrived in time to stop Metatron from convincing Hannah to free him. Castiel is aware that he is dying but the angel told Metatron to keep his remaining grace because he already made peace with his fate.
Meanwhile, Crowley and demon Dean have a discussion about how the Mark of Cain is changing Dean so it must be fed by killing someone who already has it coming instead of spiking a civilian. Crowley ordered Dean to kill the cheating wife of his client named Lester.
However, Dean ended up killing Lester and making Crowley upset because of the demon's insubordination. "What do you think you're doing?" Crowley asked after Dean shoved him. "Oh whatever I want," the demon responded.
Crowley approached Sam to tell him that he is giving Dean back because Dean's behaviour is becoming bad for his demon business. "Dean's your problem now, again. Forever," Crowley stated before revealing Dean's location.
The paths of the Winchester brothers finally crossed and Sam persuades his demon brother to come home with him and fix the situation. Sam looks pained to see Dean as a demon who mocks his every word.
In the middle of their discussion, Cole, who has been following Sam's trail since he escaped, arrived at the scene to face the man that killed his father. "This is payback," Cole stated.
Cole found out that Dean is a demon and he is no match to the strength that the Mark of Cain and the First Blade is giving Dean. When Cole told Dean to go ahead and kill him, Dean stated that he changed his mind and let Cole live.
Sam used holy water to make Dean weak, handcuffed his brother and told him to stop because it is now over. While Sam hands the First Blade to Crowley, who declares he will toss the weapon into a volcano or leave it on the moon so Dean cannot have it, Cole begins his research on demons.
The ending scene showed the Winchester brothers having a talk in the Impala. Sam pointed out that Dean could have killed Cole but he did not because there is still some humanity left in him. "You took mercy on him," Sam stated but Dean does not call it mercy.
Demon Dean further showed his dark side when he explained to Sam that what he did to Cole will continue to haunt him because they guy had a chance to get back at him for killing his father got whipped like a dog. "And what I'm gonna do to you Sammy, well, it ain't gonna be mercy either," Dean stated leaving his brother speechless.
"Supernatural" Season 10 will return with episode 3 titled "Soul Survivor" which will air on Tuesday night, Oct. 21, at 9 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
