David Beckham was named ambassador of Sky Academy.

"I am very excited to announce that I am the ambassador for Sky Academy," David wrote on Facebook. "Sky Academy is a great set of initiatives which will create opportunities in sport, TV, and the arts for up to one million young people by 2020 in the UK and Ireland," he added.

Beckham is extremely hopeful that he will play an awe-inspiring role in giving encouragement, inspiration, and motivation to the youth of the next generation.

"I have been very fortunate and blessed to become a role model in the past," said David. "Being chosen as the ambassador of Sky Academy is something I can really be proud of," he added. "It is about creating opportunities for the youth, and it is not just about sports, it is about TV, and it is about the arts," said David.

"When I was a kid, I looked up to role models and they have helped me believe in myself," Beckham said. "Role models have given me the confidence to pursue my dreams, and this is what Sky Academy is all about, that is why I am really honoured and thrilled to be a part of this," Beckham added.

Sky Academy is launched by Rupert Murdoch's British-based satellite network Sky Television. Murdoch is an Australian-American media mogul.

"Building skills and developing talent are significant not just for business success but the society in general," said British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB) Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch. "Sky Academy will create many thrilling opportunities to motivate the youth and help them enhance their skills and experience," Darroch added.

Aside from David Beckham, fellow athletes Darren Campbell and Jessica Ennis-Hill have also been named as ambassadors of the academy. Campbell is a former English sprint athlete. Ennis-Hill is a 27-year-old British track-and-field athlete who is currently the Olympic heptathlon champion.

It is definitely vital for the young generation to develop their talents and make the most out of it. Beckham and other role models can surely help inspire the young generation become better and successful people in their lives.
