Formerly from Victoria, fast bowler Dirk Nannes has confirmed his presence in the Twenty 20 Tournament and will join Surrey's side of the game. Nannes was a member of the nation's World 20Twenty finals team that lost to England in a tight match in Barbados last year.

Nanness has taken the place of bowler Shaun Tait, also an Australian, and will be signed as Surrey's second overseas player for this year's Twenty20. The former Bushranger cultivated his career with Victoria and helped the team reach the Pura Cup finals against the Queensland Bulls - but it was in Middlesex's shelter where he reached his peak as a cricketer. In the 2008 Sheffield Shield, Australia's foremost domestic first class league, he was able to perform his career high of 7/50.

Before starting his career as a first-class cricketer, Nannes was a professional skier who competed in international skiing events, a testament to his speed and natural athletic skills. Nannes joined the Victoria Bushrangers in 2006, where he made his List A cricket debuts. Nannes showed early skills as a proficient fast left-hand bowler, and was then recruited to Middlesex in 2008. His effective batting techniques contributed to the team's Twenty20's final victory. Nannes retired from List A cricket in February 2010 due to injury. Nannes' short List A career has been filled with many physical descents but, he is well and is excited to score T20 victories for Surrey on June 2.

Nannes has also played for the Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past.
