In a Sep 3 statement from United Nations High Commissioner for refugees, it said that number of Syrians compelled to flee Syria had already passed the 2 million mark on Tuesday. With Syrian crisis still on-going, the statement said that the number of refugees will be increasing continually.

"The war is now well into its third year and Syria is haemorrhaging women, children and men who cross borders often with little more than the clothes on their backs," the UN refugee agency said in a statement released to mark the milestone. This trend is nothing less than alarming, representing a jump of almost 1.8 million people in 12 months," the statement said.

UN High Commissioner for refugees António Guterres added that Syrians were fortunate to have found shelters in other countries.

He said that "the only solace is the humanity shown by the neighbouring countries in welcoming and saving the lives of so many refugees."

However, those Syrian-Australian families now living in Australia revealed that there can be no safe place for them as there are already Assad spies in the country and this may also be possible to any other country with refugees.

In a report from ABC News, it said that Syrian families in Australia had long been silent for fear that speaking in public about Syria will put them in danger with Assad spies in Australia.

However, Fatima, a 22-year-old Syrian mother felt that the time has come for Australia to be aware of the dangers of Assad spies inhabiting the country. She revealed that Assad loyalists had long been threatening them.

"I'm not scared anymore. Enough is enough, there has to be more awareness in Australia. I do fear for my family members that are in Australia," she said. There are Assad spies here in Australia. They've even said it loud and proud, our family is on the hit list."

Fatima shared that her own family had been under attack at their home in Sydney by Assad supporters.

"They've egged our cars, my dad's window got smashed, my brother's tyres got popped, my husband's car got smashed. They try to provoke, they come to where people are, who are against the Assad regime, pump up their music of the dictator and try to provoke, make threats."

Australians for Syria Association founder Dr Tamil Kahil supported Fatima's revelation, saying that he believe that Assad spies are indeed operating in Australia.

"Certainly there is a lot of verbal abuse and a lot of verbal threats. There are spies for the Assad regime reporting back to the country and people who voice their opposition to the regime are labelled," Mr Kahil said.
