John Baird, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada, has expressed the possibility of Canada's participation if there is a military assault on Syria.

If experts are to be believed, the world is going to suffer another imminent war soon. As the chemical attack on the Syrian civilians is harshly criticized all over the world, the world is gradually choosing sides on the Assad government's role in the attack. President Barack Obama has already stated that U.S. could go for a military intervention. It will be interesting to see what Canada could do if the war happens eventually.

Baird has defined what a potential strike on Syria may appear to be. There will be quick and limited attacks to be primarily accompanied by drones and cruise missiles. This will be a war against such an enemy that has alleged access to lethal weaponry. The enemy has apparently shown its inclination to use weapons of mass destruction if required.

Baird adds further that Canada is going to provide complete political support in case there is a military action against the Assad regime. He says that Canada is, however, not in a position to provide military hardware support as there are limited options available for the country. Canada seems to be not in a position to supply drones or cruise missiles which may play a significant role in dominating the attack.

CTV News reports that it will take at least one week for Canada to arrange suitable military weaponry. This, nevertheless, is not going to help the army which may strike in a few days from now. Canada prefers to play more a supportive role than an active one in the impending military strike.

Even though the 2nd largest in the world, the U.S. army, looks the stronger opponent on paper; the Syrian army may prove to be deadly as they know their soil much better than anyone else. It will be extremely fatal if the Syrian government decides to use chemical weapons against its enemy.
