Support for former Glee star Charice Pempengco continues to come in almost a month after she admitted she is lesbian. This time, the unsolicited advice about career and love life came from a fellow Filipino celebrity who like the international star struggled with coming out.

Aiza Seguerra, in fact, has many similarities to Charice aside from their preference for women as partners, butch appearance, tattoos and flourishing singing careers.

Like Charice, who started young in her musical career joining contests, Aiza also ironically joined a beauty contest for girls in 1987 organised by Eat Bulaga, a local noontime game show.

She eventually became a host in the show and grew up in the public eye but disappeared from showbusiness during her awkward years amid lesbian rumours. Years later, she admitted she is lesbian. Like Charice, it also took her a while to come out.

"It wasn't easy for me," Aiza said in Filipino, quoted by Pep.ph. What helped Aiza was the support she got from her family who immediately accepted Aiza's gender preference.

In contrast, after coming out, Charice's mother - herself a lesbian during her younger days - said that while she accepts her daughter's different sexuality, she could not accept Charice's relationship with Alyssa Quijano, a childhood rival in singing contests.

"For me, after I came out to my parents - that's it. I couldn't care less what other people may say, because for me, so long as my parents accept me, I'm good," Aiza said, adding that media should stop hounding the Pempengco family to allow them to sort out their difference.

Aiza also admitted losing projects after her coming out, which is what Charice's family is afraid of. However, Aiza advises Charice to weigh things wisely.

"The choice is between having many projects and endorsements but my gender preference is kept a secret or I am free to live my life the way I want to and hold the hands in public of someone whom I love," Aiza said.

She also told Charice to fight for the woman she loves, which is another common factor between the two celebrities since both have been linked to female contestants they mentored in singing competition.

In the case of Aiza, Krizza Neri, whom she mentored in Protégé, a reality singing competition, eventually became her girlfriend and the two had been singing beautiful music together since 2011.

Charice, who like Aiza, opts for a masculine appearance, used to compete and sing with girlfriend Alyssa during their younger days and hopes the public would also accept their relationship the way it had Aiza and Krizza's.
