Jade Goody's sons will be left with nothing if it's up to the taxman. The late British reality TV star's estate has been hit with a £1 million (approximately 1.5 million AUD) tax bill four years after she passed away.

The tragic star prepared for her two sons' education before she perished from cervical cancer in the early hours of March 22, 2009. Her wish was to secure their private education until the age of 18.

9-year-old Bobby Jack and 8-year-old Freddie are currently living with their father, TV presenter Jeff Brazier.

But instead of a secure future, they may be left with nothing as Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs have hit her estate with a £1,035,902 tax bill. The figure increased from £566,000 after it was ruled that the business expenses and losses from her beauty salon business and her wedding to fellow reality TV personality Jack Tweed did not qualify for tax relief.

"Jade was determined to give the boys the education she never had," Danny Hayward, trustee of her estate, told The Sun, "We've paid their private school fees to the end of the year but we can't after that. Jade would be heartbroken.

"We intend to appeal and fight to the end in true Jade-style to fulfil her last wishes for the boys."

Jade starred on the reality show "Big Brother 3" in 2002 and in the highly controversial "Celebrity Big Brother 5" in 2007. She was able to earn £2.2 million from 2006 to 2010, but only £1 million was left from the amount after expenses.

Her mother, Jackiey Budden, questioned the motive of the HMRC, vowing to fight the bill for her grandsons.

"Why are they bringing this now four years after her death," she asked The Sun. "It was her dying wish that the two boys had the life she never had."
