Taylor Swift: BFF Lorde is the ‘Most Important’ Thing in my Life
By now, everyone knows that Taylor Swift and Lorde are BFFs. What many might not know is that the 24-year-old U.S. superstar considers the New Zealand native the most important thing to her. That’s a high praise indeed coming from the girl who has almost everything.
In an interview with Hello magazine, Swift named the 18-year-old Kiwi songstress and “Girls” creator and star Lena Dunham as her most prized friends. She said that also they don’t see one another as often as they would like, it’s worth the wait when they do.
“They are the most important things to me right now,” the “Blank Space” singer said, as quoted by Bang Showbiz, adding that both Lorde and Dunham represent the type of woman they she aspires to become. “Ella [Yelich-O’Connor, Lorde’s real name] and I might be in the same job but we don’t see each other as anything but two female friends.”
In a separate interview with Asos, Swift has once again sung the praises of her Lorde and Dunham, as well as the rest of her friends, such as Selena Gomez and model Karlie Kloss. She said that there are lots of “celebrities” who surround themselves with cling-ons who don’t have a passion of their own. They are those who follow around their celebrity BFF, and who provide constant affirmation for them. Swift isn’t interested in those “friends,” saying what she has is real friendship.
“My friends are the kind of people who have their own lies and their own busy schedules, and that’s why we get along so well,” the blonde beauty explained.
Meanwhile, Lorde has shared the story of how her friendship with Swift started. Appearing on the “Tonight Show,” the “Yellow Flicker Beat” singer told host Jimmy Fallon that Swift reached out to her by sending her flowers in her house.
“She sent me some flowers, which was so nice. She just sent them to my house and said, ‘Congratulations on everything.’ I was like, ‘God, I need to know more!’” she said. And she did know more about her. They then met for the first time at the New York eatery Shake Shack, which was documented by a passing fan on Twitter, and was quickly spread online.
