Taylor Swift Tops The List Of Most Charitable Celebrity Of 2014 For Third Consecutive Year, Beats Miley Cyrus, Emma Watson And Beyonce [SEE PHOTOS]
For the third consecutive year, Taylor Swift has been named as the year's most charitable celebrity. The "I Knew You Were Trouble" star beat the likes of Emma Watson, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus to bag the top honour by U.S. based charity DoSomething.org. The non-profit organisation gave the honour to the 25-year-old because the songstress donated all the money she earned from her single, "Welcome To New York" to the public schools in New York City.
The second place is bagged by "Orange Is The New Black" actress Laverne Cox. Laverne is hailed as the voice for the LGBT community after she played the role of a transgender Sophia Burset in the series.
Pop star Beyonce bagged the third spot. Queen Bey's #BeyGOOD campaign helps in giving work to jobless people, giving clothes to donation centers and also help resettle the homeless people by providing them "counseling, housing, food and medical assistance," writes celebsgonegood.com.
Next on the list is the surprise entry of "We Can't Stop" singer Miley Cyrus. The rebellious singer used her speech at the MTV Video Music Awards to promote a homeless youth named Jesse Helt. The 21-year-old won the "Video Of the Year" award at the ceremony but let Jesse go on stage to accept her award so that he can spread awareness about the condition of homeless young people.
Fifth spot went to actress Emma Watson. The "Harry Potter" actress was honoured to promote feminism through her speech at the United Nations, where she is the ambassador. She was also recognised for the launch of the #HeForShe campaign. British boy band One Direction narrowly missed out a place in the top 20 list. The boy band hit the sixth spot and was recognised for raising $341,869 for "Stand Up To Cancer."
Other celebrities on the list include WWF champ John Cena, "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes, actress Lupita Nyong'o, Kerry Washington and singer Justin Bieber. The "Boyfriend" singer was honoured for making 200 wishes come true of his fans under "Make A Wish Foundation." Bieber also worked with #CardsForDanny, an organisation that sends birthday wishes to a boy battling cancer. Click on the slideshow above to see the Top Five most charitable celebrities of 2014.
