Tech Roundup: Intel 4th Gen Core, Haswell PCs, Sony Vaio Duo 13 Ultrabooks, Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, Xperia M and Vodafone
Computex brought tech's most innovative and anticipated gadgets for the year and coming year. A quick look at the event featured Sony and Acer devices running on Intel's new Haswell processors, a tablet that joins a computer, laptop and notebook in one and many new information about phone manufacturers like Blackberry, HTC and Nokia. The event also featured the latest tablets from Samsung.
Computex is an annual computer event. The affair showcases different products from some of the leading tech companies in the world. The latest of this series was held last weekend at Taipei. Computex showcased big releases and announcements for the PC and mobile phones markets.
Intel teased the crowed with their latest smartphone processor, Merrifield. Acer and Sony also announced their line of products featuring Intel's upcoming fourth-generation Haswell architecture. The new processor comes after Ivy Bridge. Many expect the release of Haswell to set a new standard for battery life and power consumption.
Acer introduced two new Haswell PC devices. The Aspire S3-392 and the Aspire S7-392 are the two new ultrabooks from the company. The first one features a 13.3-inch 1080p display that can open up to a flat 180 degrees. It is also includes Nvidia GeForce GT735M graphics including a 1TB hard drive.
Sony Vaio Duo 13
The Duo 13 is Sony's premiere line of ultrabooks. Features include 8MP rear camera, digitiser stylus, a full backlit keypard including a full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 LED Triluminos Mobile Display. The device runs on an always-on technology ensuring users that it is constantly updated. The batter can last up to more than ten hours. This is one of the most battery-efficient on the market today.
New Smart Offerings from Sony, Samsung and Vodafone
The Vodafone Smart 3 is one of the most affordable phones on the market. It is exclusive under Vodafone Ireland. The device is 4-inches long and has a 1GHz processor, WVGA capacitive touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera and up to 512 MB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Users can personalize the interface using graphic sheets.
Xperia M and Galaxy Tab
A new Sony smartphone will hit the market soon. The Xperia M series will be available in single and dual-SIM editions. Both phones run on an identical language to that of Xperia Z. Other announcements included the new Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch and 10-inch models. Samsung's latest tablets feature Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The company is set to release the products later this year.
