Now that the Teen Choice Awards 2013 has been concluded and all the winners named, one of the reverberating questions in everyone’s mind, though not at all unexpected, is why Twilight lovers, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart decided to ditch the event.

Not only have they missed receiving the surfs for the big wins Twilight had for the evening. But the controversial couple may have also crushed the high hopes of their thousands of Twifans. Robert and Kristen no doubt, remain as one of the most popular couple in Hollywood, both off-and-on screen.

IBTimes-AU has been closely following the couple for months, and shortly before their shocking SECOND split in May and has the following top three reasons why they thought it was best not to brave a reunited front at the event on Sunday, August 11, 2013.

1. The recent split may have caused too much drama at the Gibson Theater
Weeks, even months before the much-anticipated event, there have been a lot of speculations whether or not the couple will attend the TCA this year.

Since their split in May 2013 and weeks before the deadline for the teen votes drew near, the Robsten reunion is highly anticipated and talked about and there’s no doubt their fans still want to see them together and make a reunited front.

But it would have caused too much drama inside the Gibson Amphitheater at the Universal City. There will be a lot of awkward moments not only between the couple but also the people around them.

2. The privacy-loving couple knows eyes will be on them
Rob and Kristen is the new Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The powerful couple in Brangelina has always been a sure promotional stint for any award-giving body. Their attendance has always been anticipated, especially during their early years together when they know that Jennifer Aniston was still hurting. And they are indeed a sight to see.

The same goes for Robsten. Rob and Kristen have always been what everyone is hoping to see at official gatherings such as the Teen Choice Awards 2013 - - both their devoted Twihard fans and the critics.

Twihards still hope to revive the “dying” immortal love affair. Irony, it is. But Robsten Romance sure still lives in the hearts of their every tween fans.

The critics for their part want to see them together, hoping they may make a wrong move, or make the sweetest moment that will forever stay in papers and photos and in every Web site in the World Wide Web.

Robsten knows this. Kristen knows this.

"People think they knew a lot about me before. They know even less now. People will project whatever. It's a huge form of entertainment. As soon as you step outside your own life and look at it like that and think that you can shape something -- you need to live your life. I'm just going to live my life, actually," Kristen said in an interview with USA Today in December 2012.

3. They are not ready to make public appearance.
There is no doubt that both of them could be hurting. Rob truly loves Kristen, and he has proven that when he took her again after the most shocking Hollywood scandal involving Kristen. Or was it really just in papers?

Kristen no doubt has fallen in love with Rob even more after they reconciled in October 2012, just months before the official release of the final installment of The Breaking Dawn Part 2. Rob was openly devastated when the news hit the world that Kristen had a fling in Summer 2012 (and this writer always prefers not to mention the name of the 44-year-old director of a film Kristen had appeared in).

It will be recalled that Kristen was a picture of immense sadness when she had a huge fight with Rob shortly after they arrived LA from New York for the MET Gala 2013 on May 6, 2013. Rob was seen being driven drunk away from Chateau Marmont Hotel in Sunset Boulevard the day after they landed LA from the Big Apple. This was just three days before his 27th birthday on May 13, 2013. Then the huge fight commenced and Rob was seen packing his things and moving back to his Spanish-style villa.

The rest they say is history.

Until Rob decided to drop by at Kristen’s place in Los Feliz two weeks ago. One of the reasons for their surprising short, two-hour reunion was probably deciding whether or not to come to the Teen Choice Awards 2013.

Rob and Kristen and Twilight and its other stars have received nine nominations and won seven of the nine categories they were vying for. It was some serious event that their presence could very well be appreciated as the teens sure gave them their time to vote for their idols.

But the couple may not be ready. HollywoodLife.com claims that Kristen is more game than Rob, and it was the Twilight hunk who didn’t want to be seen at the event.

“Kristen had no problem whatsoever going to the Teen Choice Awards, but she was only going to go if Rob also went,” the gossip Web site quoted yet another unnamed friend of Kristen.

“It was primarily Rob’s decision not to go. He has been wanting to distance himself from the Twilight films for quite some time now. Kristen felt kind of hurt that Rob is so eager to move away with anything that has to do with the franchise. In a way, she takes it kind of personally.”

Does it really matter who wants to go or not go?

It doesn’t. The couple may have even saved everyone a lot of trouble when they decided to stay at their respective homes while their names were being called at the Teen Choice Awards 2013.

The TCA 2013 was held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California, on Aug 11, 2013. It was aired on Fox from 8-10pm.
