It started at $10 but that one lock of famous but only the remains of Justin Bieber’s 'Bieberish' hair has been auctioned off for a staggering $40,668.
We have all seen how the teenage pop sensation dropped by unannounced on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" just to hand her his newly cut Bieberish hair her a week ago.
And it was then when he announced that the single lock of his hair, placed with his signature in a Perspex box , was for auction, emphasizing that the proceeds would go to a charitable institution.
"We're doing something special," Bieber was quoted telling surprised but happy DeGeneres, in his unannounced TV appearance on her show on February 23.
"We want you to donate it to whichever charity you want," the popular teen hitmaker and the focus of the movie, “Never Say Never” said referring to a lock of his newly cut hair.
Starting shortly after the show, the bidding for his Bieberish hair began as it was posted on Ellen DeGeneres's official website and the deadline was set on March 2, in time for Justin Bieber’s 17th birthday.
'I'm going to auction this off on my website and give the money to The Gentle Barn,' DeGeneres said.
Justin’s pricey Bieberish hair even topped other celebrity items that went for auction for charity and that which was also sold by the former Idol judge: Elvis Presley's hair recently went for $15,000, while Adam Lambert's Ellen underwear sold for $10,000 and Gwen Stefani's costume nabbed a cool $5,000.
