The 19-year-old British woman who just could not wait to become a mother lost her life 48 hours after giving birth to her twins, Evie and Oliver. Sophie Burgess began feeling cramps in her stomach soon after her delivery before the doctors realised that she is suffering from septicaemia.

The babies, left unseen by their mother, were born eight weeks prematurely at Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital in Telford, England. Oliver was born normally, however, Burgess had to undergo a caesarean section to safely deliver Evie.

After giving birth to the twins, Burgess contracted septicaemia, which led to her transfer to the intensive care unit. The teenager died within 48 hours of becoming a new mum.

"Sophie contracted septicaemia after giving birth to her twins, the reason behind this is still unknown, but the hospital has been conducting their own investigations," told Burgess's mother, reported Yahoo! 7 News.

Burgess's family in support with one of their friends, Ria Norris, has now reportedly created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the newborn twins. The raised fund will be used in favour of the babies as they grow up. The fund appeal has raised about 4,750 pounds within four days by 330 people, nearly nine times the amount targeted by the family.

"Sophie and her boyfriend, Alex, lived at home with me while she was pregnant and we will be helping him alongside his family to bring up the twins when they get out of the hospital. He has been an exceptional dad to Oliver and Evie so far," said Burgess's mother, reported The Mirror.

The newborn babies are still under observation in the neonatal unit at the hospital.
