Ten Hints At Australian ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ Contestants; ‘Sabrina’ Star Melissa Joan Hart Reportedly Heading to the Jungle [VIDEO]
Channel 10 has put out teasers for the participants in the new reality show “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” and word is, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star Melissa Joan Hart is one of the contestants.
The network is set to introduce 10 celebrities that are participating in the reality show set in the South African jungle in February. The names are top secret, but Ten has teased viewers of the stars included in the show.
According to the video, there will be a “four-time Olympian,” an “Aussie cricket icon,” a “Gold Logie nominee,” an “AFL Hall of Fame superstar” and “a world-famous actress who is an international household name.” But the clues remain vague, as there are countless others who fit the descriptions given. Also, the network didn’t even care to narrow the choices down by mentioning if the contestants are Australians or from other countries.
One name that is creating a lot more noise than the others is that of Hart’s, who has found international fame as the titular teenage witch from the ‘90s sitcom. Apparently, the rumours began after she started following the show on Twitter a few days ago. It’s not a confirmation, but one would question why the 38-year-old American actress would follow an Australian reality show that hasn’t even aired.
ITV Australia chief Anita Jacoby added to Fairfax Media that among the 10 contestants, there would also be a “fashion icon” and a “TV royalty.” As for why the strict secrecy of the participants, there’s one good reason for it apart from it builds mystery and excitement for viewers. Apparently, even the celebrities themselves don’t know who else have signed on.
“They find out who they are going to be joining on that first night,” Jacoby told the paper. “They genuinely don’t know. That is part of the magic of the show, they have got no inkling whatsoever.”
There were reports that Sophie Monk, “The Bachelor” Blake Garvey and Shane Warne were approached for the show, but all declined. An insider from the network confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that Monk did indeed turn down a $60,000 per week contract for the show, with her management saying that it was “not something that she was interested in pursuing.”
The original British version of the show has been filming its seasons in Murwillumbah in northern NSW since 2002, but since Australians are watching the Australian version, the location would be too familiar for them. Hence, the show will take place at an undisclosed location on the edge of Kruger National Park in South Africa.
