School children wave as they hold a poster of Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar at an event to honour him inside a school in the southern Indian city of Chennai November 14, 2013.

Sachin Tendulkar, arguably the greatest batsman cricket has ever produced, is expected to mentor his son Arjun who is also a budding cricketer. It is going to be strange for Mr Tendulkar not to be a part of international cricket any more as he retired on Nov 16, 2013, after playing for 24 years.

The cricketing world has been sulking since it heard the little master call it a day. A die-hard fan of Mr Tendulkar from Gujrat, Vijay Govind, has apparently committed suicide on Saturday by hanging himself. It was the same day that Mr Tendulkar touched the cricketing pitch and left for the dressing room for the last time. Mr Govind reportedly told his friend earlier that the last match for Mr Tendulkar and the last day of his life would be the same.

Even though Mr Tendulkar happens to be one cricketer whose records are most unlikely to be broken by anyone else, he is probably going to be remembered beyond his records as well. He is arguably the most loved cricketer all over the world. Even arch-rivals from Pakistan seem to have significant affection for him. Former Pakistan Captain Rashid Latif has recently urged Mr Tendulkar to be appointed as the peace ambassador between India and Pakistan [Read Here].

Another Indian cricketing legend and former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly has called Mr Tendulkar the Maradona of cricket. Mr Ganguly argued that Mr Tendulkar made everyone speechless with his farewell speech. Cricket without Mr Tendulkar is going to be an opening batsman without a helmet, he said. Mr Ganguly also said that the final innings of Mr Tendulkar was his best in the last three years, according to him. Mr Ganguly does not want Mr Tendulkar to waste his time on doing commentary. Mr Tendulkar should, on the contrary, do something to pay cricket back; he said. Mr Ganguly, who was among the chosen few who could hug Mr Tendulkar after his final match, said that it would be a memory to be cherished.

Mr Tendulkar has been awarded by the highest civilian award in India, the Bharat Ratna. He dedicated the award all the mothers in his country, especially his own, because of the sacrifices she made in her life.
