Teri Hatcher denies plan to leave 'Desperate Housewives'
Teri Hatcher denied reports that she is leaving Desperate Housewives, and that the next season will be her last on Wisteria Lane. Hatcher called the report over the weekend as "ridiculously untrue."
According to a report by UK's Daily Mail, Teri Hatcher reportedly told the ABC executive channels that she will be leaving Desperate Housewives after the next season to work on a new television series.
Hatcher took to her Facebook page to deny the report and wrote a series of status updates. The Hollywood actress blasted the Daily Mail for what she called as "irresponsible journalism" while calling for accountability for fabricating the story.
"There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is. "Newspapers" should be accountable for this kind of irresponsible journalism and reckless fabrication of a story. What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would "quit" what has been one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis."
The actress denied implying that she will leave the popular series. She also expects the newspaper to issue a retraction and apology for the report.
"I have never said nor inferred otherwise. They made no effort to contact me or my representatives or the network to fact check. I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least for mucking up everyone's Sunday with this huge, hurtful lie. I will say it again, I love [Desperate Housewives], the cast and crew are like family and I am with it till its cancelled."
Hatcher has played Susan Mayer for the last seven season of Desperate Housewives. She received an Emmy nomination, a Golden Globe Award and three Screen Actors Guild Award for her work on the ABC show.
