'Terminator 5'—What We Know So Far
"Terminator 5" will be released on July 1, 2015 in the U.S. Arnold Schwarzeneggar will be back playing the iconic role as a robot. The movie completed filming on Aug. 6, 2014 with the actor thanking the cast and crew for their efforts.
"Terminator 5" marks the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to the franchise after over a decade. He was last seen playing the role in "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," released in the year 2003. He was not part of the "Terminator Salvation" movie released in 2009.
Perhaps the most popular movie from the franchise was "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." The movie released in 1991 captured the imagination of the audience at that time with never-befor-seen action sequences, and the film was one of the biggest hits of the year.
Arnold promised "Terminator 5" will have the same level of action as the 1991 movie that got the fans excited. Speaking to Collider, the actor said the movie has some "hardcore action" and "great visual effects," which he said would leave the audience wondering "Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?"
The main thrust in the plots of the movies from the franchise has been time travel, and "Terminator 5" will also have some time travel element in it. In an interview with MTV, the actor confirmed that because of the time travel in the plot of the movie, there will be a younger T-800 robot, which will get reprogrammed later and the audience will see an older version of the same robot.
Although the T-800 is a robot, it is basically a metal skeleton with living tissue on top. So the robot does age, although a lot slower than regular people. This may justify the role of the aging actor's role in the movie. The one movie that did not feature any time travel is "Terminator Salvation." The movie had a lackluster performance at the box office compared to the other movies from the franchise.
The trailer for the upcoming movie is expected to be released soon. According to a report by TheTerminatorFans.com, the trailer will be attached to the movie "Interstellar," and fans of the franchise can hope to see it November.
Some of the cast members of "Terminator 5" include Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Courtney B. Vance as Miles Dyson, Michael Gladis as Lieutenant Matias, Dayo Okeniyi as Danny Dyson, J.K. Simmons and Byung-hun Lee.
