A beauty queen from Thailand is under investigation for teaching a young boy how to snort questionable white powder. A video has emerged showing local Miss Maxim competition finalist Kwanjai Khempradub teaching a five-year-old boy how to snort white powder that is believed to be Ketamine, a recreational drug.

The video, which emerges online, has caused outrage among Thai citizens. Khempradub is seen teaching an unnamed boy how to snort the white powder that she was holding with a banknote. An unseen man who was holding the camera was laughing along with her.

Her relationship with the child isn’t clear.

Netizens believe that the white powder was Ketamine, also known as Ya K or K that causes hallucinations and almost complete sensory detachment. Khempradub quickly denied the speculations on her Facebook page, though, claiming the white substance was merely a harmless baby powder.

Whether the substance was an illicit drug or an ordinary baby powder, Khempradub has been disqualified from the Miss Maxim competition and is now facing arrest.

According to Technology Crime Suppression Division chief Maj-General Pisit Pao-in, the beauty queen violated the law with the video “because it shows others how to abuse an illicit substance.”

“If she doesn’t come on her own, we will issue a summons. If she does not respond, she will face an arrest warrant,” the officer said.

And if during the investigation that the white powder seen in the clip was in fact an illegal drug, Khempradub could face up to five years in jail plus a fine of Bt100,000 [A$3,270].

Anyone who shared the controversial video clip online would also face legal punishment, according to a police spokesman.
