A Canadian mother wrote an open letter to a stranger thanking him for the kindness he showed to her daughter who suffers from autism. The thank-you letter, which she published in her blog, has gone viral.

Thirty-six-year-old Shanell Mouland maintains a regular blog where she discussed about her life with her daughter Kate, 3, suffering from autism spectrum disorder. Her latest blog is titled as "Dear 'Daddy' in Seat 16C Flight 1850 From Philly". She expressed her anxiety when her daughter sat next to the stranger in a flight they both were traveling in. She was apprehensive about how he would react to her daughter's behaviour but she was pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness and patience showed by the stranger throughout the long journey.

She wrote that Kate started rubbing the stranger's arm the moment he sat beside her. She apparently liked the feel of his jacket which was really soft. When the stranger smiled at Kate, she called him "daddy." She continued in her blog that it was possible for the stranger to have ignored Kate. He could also have smiled meaningfully so that the mother knew that she had to control her child herself.

Ms Mouland thanked the stranger for not allowing her to repeat the "apologetic sentences" which she typically used in similar situations. The stranger was also thanked for "entertaining" her daughter making it the "most successful plane ride" in Kate's entire life so far. She also thanked the stranger for putting his papers away only to play turtles with her daughter.

Ms Mouland's letter was first featured on the Huffington Post. Thereafter, it became viral online and was featured in many other Web sites. Her Facebook post has already become a craze. According to Ms Mouland, people may have liked a simple example of a random act of kindness. People crave things that "make them feel good", Ms Mouland told CBC.
