There Almost Never Was Sizzling Kate Upton as she Reveals Rejection for Being 'Too American'
Ask men, and everyone will be in unison that Kate Upton is the model of the hour. After making headlines and propelling to superstardom in 2012, Kate Upton remains to be one of the hottest and highly sought-after and much talked-about bikini models we have today. But we almost didn’t have her.
The sizzling model reveals, she got rejected, told she was “too American” to become a model. Keeping the identity of the agency under wraps, Kate admitted in a recent interview that she got so offended for being told that the agency feared she would be too lazy to work.
“I’m not going to name names, but one agency told me, ‘You’re too American, and everybody knows American women are lazy.’ I was so offended! I’ve never been so offended,” Kate said, according to The Inquisitr.
Recalling how she could not believe her ears, but Kate was set on making a name in the fashion industry despite the unfounded judgment.
“I was like, ‘You know that you’re in America, right?’ And it wasn’t ‘American models’ – it was ‘American women are lazy,’ period! I feel like a lot of women would disagree with that. A lot,” Kate said as if the words reverberating in her heads were mouthed just yesterday.
Instead of being disheartened by the still unnamed agency, Kate still went on to search for her stars, until she found it - - from the International Management Group (IMG). This agency has Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen as aces up its sleeve, and Kate said, she knew she found hers after she got a totally different reaction.
“I walked in and they said, ‘You’re so American, which is great. You’re exactly what we’re looking for,’” Kate recalled.
“A totally different response, and I was like, ‘That’s who I’m signing with.’”
Since signing up with IMG, Kate has then graced the cover for Sports Illustrated not just once but twice. Then more calls came her way from Vogue Italia and British Vogue. She also had a break to appear on GQ and Esquire. She recently appeared in Elle Magazine (U.S.) and the top choice for Vanity Fair’s 100th year anniversary.
There’s no stopping Kate. Her dougie dance and topless horse riding video still go viral when they surface online. She has been named as Model of the Year in the recently concluded 10th Style Awards. And she continues to make headlines with (or without anything on).
At 21, Kate had already appeared in two films, Tower Heist (2011) and The Three Stooges (2012). The former equestrienne is currently filming The Other Woman, in which she co-stars with Cameron Diaz, Nicki Minaj and Leslie Mann.
Kate isn’t going anywhere and there’s no direction but up for the stunner as she continues to impress in hard work and dedication to her craft.
