'Thor’ actor Chris Hemsworth shifts base to Australia, picks Byron Bay over Los Angeles
"Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth, who recently purchased a property near Byron Bay, will soon settle down in Australia with his wife Elsa Pataky and Kids, to give his family a "normal life."
The Hollywood star said that since they travel a lot because of work, it wasn't necessary for their base to be in Hollywood. Hemsworth said that this was the "best decision" they have ever taken while talking on the “Kyle and Jackie O" show on Thursday.
Hemsworth married Spanish actress Elsa Pataky in 2010, and they are parents to three children -- daughter India Rose, 3, and two sons, Tristan and Sasha, who turn 2 in March.
The Melbourne born actor stars in Ron Howard's new film" In The Heart Of The Sea," which is scheduled to release in Australia on Dec. 03. Chris is said to have lost a lot of weight while preparing for his role in the film.
"In the Heart of the Sea" is a historical adventure thriller drama film based on Nathaniel Philbrick's 2000 non-fiction book of the same name. The movie revolves around the sinking of the American whaling ship Essex in 1820. This story is said to be the inspiration for "Moby-Dick.”
Directed by Ron Howard, the film stars Chris Hemsworth as Owen Chase, the First officer. Other actors involved in the movie include Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw and Brendan Gleeson.
The Aussie actor started his acting career in 2002 when he starred in “Guinevere Jones” as King Arthur. It was however his role as Kim Hyde in the Australian TV series “Home and Away” that got him noticed. He started his filming career in 2009 when he starred as George kirk in "Star Trek.” He, however, gained popularity after he played the title role in "Thor" in 2011.
