Three Australian soldiers have been wounded in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan, The Age reported.

The attack unfolded against the soldiers from Mentoring Task Force 3 during an operational mission on January 2, about 60 kilometres north-west of the Multi-National Base at Tarin Kowt in Oruzgan Province, the Australian Defence Force revealed in a statement on Thursday.

The soldiers' wounds are not considered life-threatening, and the soldiers are recuperating well, with at least one of them being taken care of as outpatient, reports said.

The soldiers' identities will be undisclosed for the sake of their families.

One soldier will return to Australia where he is expected to make a full recovery, according to The Age.

Associated Australian Press reported 216 ADF members have been wounded in Afghanistan since the start of the war in 2001.
