Tiger Air cancels flights; receives warning from Australia's regulators
Singapore's Tiger Airways's subsidiary in Australia has received a warning from the air safety regulator because of some concerns on its maintenance and flight trainings.
Prior to several flights cancelled today amidst the teeming number of travellers because of the five-day holiday in Australia, Tiger Air has been slapped with a 'show cause' notice last month threatening to vary, suspend or cancel its license.
This would be first such notice issued by Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (Casa) related to the training and monitoring of pilots and other crew maintenance.
In a related report by AFP, a spokesman from Tiger Air said that there were no serious safety concerns but declined to comment on the details.
"Casa asked Tiger to clarify certain matters, which Tiger has responded to promptly and in full," the spokesman said. She noted that Casa asked for some corrective measures and are now being verified.
Nonetheless, Tiger Air earlier today cancelled two interstate flights from Melbourne - and said alternative services were not available until Saturday because of some operational concerns.
