Tim Tebow's Race Car to be Auctioned Off to Raise Funds for his Foundation

Tim Tebow once owned a 1995 green Ford Thunderbird that he used to drive during his college days at the University of Florida. When Tebow started playing for the National Football League (NFL) in 2010, the car got stuck in his parents' garage and three years later, he decided to donate it to his foundation.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty, who is a friend of Tim Tebow Foundation, helped redesign and rebuild the Ford Thunderbird. The old car in a shoddy condition has turned into a beautifully-crafter blue and orange custom paint job. Tebow's number 15 is painted on each door.

Tebow reportedly bought the car for only $500 and he was amazed how Petty restored the car. "I have always been a fan of Mr. Petty and I am so thankful for his support of my foundation," Tebow said once in an interview.

The restoration was done by Petty's Garage. The car almost looked brand new. The body, engine, wheels, tires, brakes, and interior were changed. It also features a "2012 Ford Coyote 5.0 engine with naturally aspirated 500 horsepower."

According to the official Web site of Tim Tebow Foundation, the car will be auctioned in 2015, but it will be touring all over the U.S. to help raise funds for the said charity to support its drive to bring faith, love and hope to those people in need.

The car will be displayed at "The Avenues" mall situated at Southside Boulevard in Jacksonville. It will be displayed on the lower level below the food court from Dec. 20 to 22, as reported by Jacksonville.com.
